Yei Police Holding Room.jpg (38 of 44)

September 20, 2007 Hi all This week Robert is out on foot patrols in Yei. He also went via UN vehicle to some of the neighbouring villages again. It is the rainy season so it is muddy although Robert said it is actually raining less now than it did when he first arrived in the non rainy season. In an earlier email I may have mentioned Robert working at a local jail for a few days and completing a review and cleanup because there was so much garbage and human feces in the male and female cells. Anyway, attached are some pictures of the cells and the inmates who were under his command to clean them up. (Some may find these disturbing) The UN Commander for Robert's Sector area visited on Wednesday of this wee and communicated how impressed he was with the work that Mark and Robert had done in Yei. He was very impressed and deemed the work they do "mission critical" No surprise. Robert may not like Africa but when he sets out to accomplish something he always succeeds. That said, Robert and Mark may be offered an extension for their mission. While it has not been officially offered to them I think if Robert and Mark express their interest than an extension would be made available. This is something Robert and I will decide on as we do have our wedding planning and while many of you may think Robert has no interest in this, he does want me to send him as much to review and input into as I can and with the slow emails system, this can be hard. An extension impacts both of us and it is something we will look at in the coming weeks and months and decide accordingly based on our plans. Anyway, that is all for now. Paula
